With very little experience in agriculture Brauderik and Menthia came to Denmark in September 2025. Together with 11 other young people from South Africa they were the first students in the Mulilo program for agriculture.
The program started with eight months of training at Dalum Academy of Agricultural followed by a 14-months internship at a Danish farm.
– Here at this farm, it’s all about teamwork. Everyone just wants to help everyone, says Menthia.
Brauderick and Menthia are working on the breeding herd Kokkenborg at South Funen. It is a modern company with over 20 employees.
– The knowledge we will get here and the knowledge we already have so far, that will be very valuable to us when we go home. The things I learn here, I can actually take home with me and start up something of my own, says Brauderick.
The future looks bright
The students learn a lot about the way we farm in Denmark. At the same time they develop a lot of personal skills.
– Being here just makes me be a more outspoken person. I engage with other people which I am not used to. I’m learning how to speak about my feelings and I’m also learning how to set boundaries, says Menthia.
– I have hope for the future. The future looks bright, she says.
